Flat Folding Boxes or collapsible boxes refer to boxes or containers which have the ability to be folded flat. Being able to fold a box flat has many advantages, for instance; when a box is no longer needed for the purpose with which it was intended i.e. storage purposes etc. it may be folded flat and stored more easily thus help saving valuable space.
Flat folding boxes are available in a wide variety of designs and can be manufactured from different materials. The materials they are made from will depend on the use they will be put to. These types of boxes can be made from cardboard, plastic or even metal and are available in many different colours.
The boxes are designed to fold flat by simple hinging and flap mechanisms, or in the case of cardboard boxes just simply folded along a predetermined crease.
The advantages of these types of boxes are many and some of them will include:

o Vertical smooth side enabling maximum storage capacity
o Can be stacked folded or open with or without lid

Cardboard boxes are extremely versatile as they may be made into almost any size and shape. This is because they are folded along a predetermined crease and the cardboard is relatively thin when compared to plastic folding boxes. They are lightweight and can be recycled after use or even re-used.
Plastic folding boxes rely on folding or collapsible mechanisms; they are more robust and slightly heavier than cardboard boxes. Because of these properties plastic boxes do not fold into as small a volume as cardboard boxes, however they are many times more durable than the cardboard variety, they are water resistant so therefore will not sag or rot and have a very long useable lifespan.
In general terms a box may be described as a container or receptacle which is used for temporary or permanent storage and is often used as method for transporting contents.
Boxes can be made from many different materials such as metal, wood, plastic, paperboard, corrugated fibreboard and other suitable durable materials.
Boxes are used for many different purposes, and just some of these can include boxes for food, games, jewellery, toys, transportation, long or short term storage, wooden wine boxes etc.
